Probably because I was never a big Sonic fan to begin with, and I only really played a few games including the originals. This game was given as a gift, I think for my birthday or something. Perhaps "loved" WAS a bit of an overstatement there, but it did have some moments in the story that I enjoyed. Although some of the endings were just plain weird.
